Eliminates Pain
When muscles ache, joints stiffen, or pain slows you down, Revive™ gets you moving again. This fast-acting herbal topical helps ease soreness, stiffness, and tension—supporting natural circulation and recovery. Handcrafted from time-honored Chinese herbs, Revive™ works in as little as a minute to restore flow, comfort, and freedom of movement.
Revive™ was originally formulated to alleviate Bi Syndrome and muscle soreness caused by repetitive use — the kind that builds up in massage therapists, construction workers, data-entry-heavy office staff, and any vocation where the same motion is performed thousands of times a day. What practitioners discovered, once it was on the shelf, was that the formula moved beyond its original use case quickly.
Today Revive™ is reached for in clinics for headaches, joint pain, neck pain, bruises, bone bruises, ligament damage, contusions, and any presentation where Bi Syndrome — obstruction in the channels — is the underlying TCM pattern. Many practitioners apply Revive™ before a treatment, using it to promote local circulation in the area to be worked: prior to Tui-na, cupping, or acupuncture, or simply to invigorate the hands before extended bodywork.
The formula has been in continuous clinical use for over a quarter-century. It has not been reformulated.
In TCM, Bi Syndrome (痺證) describes obstruction in the channels — a stagnation of Qi and Blood that produces pain, stiffness, swelling, restricted range of motion, and the characteristic feeling that something inside the tissue is “stuck.” The classical etiology involves the invasion of Wind, Cold, Damp, or Heat into the channels, often where prior trauma, repetitive strain, or weakened defensive Qi has left the area vulnerable.
Revive™ addresses Bi Syndrome of any type, regardless of which evil predominates. The formula invigorates Qi and moves blood with Chuan Xiong, Chi Shao, and Sheng Di Huang; opens the collaterals and relaxes the sinews with Wei Ling Xian, Du Zhong, and Xu Duan; warms and disperses Cold with Bai Ji Tian and the formula’s ethanol carrier; resolves swelling and relieves pain with Mo Yao and Ru Xiang — the classical Frankincense-and-Myrrh pair that has anchored trauma medicine across Eastern and Western traditions for two thousand years.
- Muscle soreness, stiffness, and overuse from repetitive vocations
- Joint pain — acute or chronic — with or without swelling
- Neck and shoulder tension, headache with cervical component
- Acute trauma: bruises, bone bruises, contusions, ligament damage
- Pre-treatment circulation priming for Tui-na, cupping, acupuncture
- Cold-Damp Bi: pain that worsens in cold or damp weather
- Wind-Bi: migrating pain that moves location
- Practitioner self-care: hand and wrist invigoration before bodywork
Revive™ is fast. Most patients feel the formula working within a minute of application — the menthol and ethanol carry the herbal extracts through the skin and into the underlying tissue almost immediately, which is the primary reason this formula is so widely used in pre-treatment workflows. Practitioners can apply, palpate, and begin working without waiting for the formula to settle.
Chuan Xiong, Chi Shao Yao, and Hong-tradition blood-movers form the circulatory engine. Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum) is one of the most reliable blood-moving herbs in the Chinese pharmacopeia, with documented activity in microcirculation enhancement; Chi Shao Yao cools and moves blood simultaneously, addressing the heat that develops in trauma and overuse; Sheng Di Huang nourishes Yin and cools blood, balancing the warming herbs.
Mo Yao and Ru Xiang — Myrrh and Frankincense — are the classical pair for traumatic injury. Their action is to invigorate blood, reduce swelling, and relieve pain in tandem. Both have documented anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity in modern pharmacology, and their pairing in Chinese trauma medicine predates the Tang dynasty.
Du Zhong, Xu Duan, and Wei Ling Xian address the structural component of Bi Syndrome. Du Zhong (Eucommia Bark) and Xu Duan (Teasel Root) are classical for tendon and ligament repair, fortifying the sinews and bones beneath the affected area. Wei Ling Xian (Clematis) opens the channels and moves Wind-Damp out of the joints — particularly useful when stiffness and migrating pain dominate.
Bai Ji Tian, Fang Feng, Huang Qi, and the Schisandra-Acorus pair support the formula’s deeper work. Bai Ji Tian (Morinda) tonifies Kidney Yang and strengthens the lower back; Fang Feng (Siler) disperses Wind; Huang Qi (Astragalus) supports tissue regeneration; Wu Wei Zi (Schisandra) and Shi Chang Pu (Acorus) help direct the formula’s action through the channels and into the nervous system.
Reach for Revive™ when the presenting condition involves pain, stiffness, swelling, or stagnation in muscle, joint, or soft tissue. The formula is suited to acute and chronic Bi Syndrome alike, and is equally appropriate for active treatment and pre-treatment preparation. It works alongside manual therapy, acupuncture, and orthopedic care rather than replacing any of them.
Western terminology commonly associated with these TCM patterns:
- Increases Micro-Circulation
- Increases Lymphatic Circulation
- Increases Capillary Circulation
- Promotes Regeneration of the Flesh
- Anti-Inflammatory
- Analgesic
Practitioner-specific applications:
- Apply to the area to be worked before Tui-na, cupping, or acupuncture — primes circulation and softens tissue ahead of treatment
- Use on hands, wrists, and forearms before extended bodywork — supports the practitioner’s own joints across a long shift
- Combine with cupping or gua sha to extend the duration of local circulation enhancement
- Apply post-treatment to reinforce the work done in the session
Revive™ was built for the treatment room and never left it. It is the bottle on the wall in clinics where practitioners apply it before they begin, and the one their patients ask to take home for the in-between days. The formula moves quickly because the work has to keep moving. After twenty-seven years, that is still the job.
The fifteen herbs in Revive™ were selected for one purpose: to move what has stopped moving. What follows is a full materia medica for every ingredient, drawn from the Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing, Li Shizhen’s Ben Cao Gang Mu, and Bensky’s modern synthesis — with attention to each herb’s classical role in Bi Syndrome, trauma medicine, and pre-treatment preparation.
Three Additional Ingredients
Revive™ is available in both Cream and Gel formulations. The Gel contains the fifteen herbs and three preparation ingredients above. The Cream adds three further ingredients that give it its richer, more emollient texture — useful for longer manual therapy sessions, drier skin, and any application where sustained surface contact is preferred.
Each herb in Revive™ addresses one component of the Bi Syndrome equation: blood that has stopped moving, channels that have closed, sinews and bones that have weakened, and pain that has settled in. Together, they restore motion. The Gel carries them in a fast-acting base. The Cream carries them in a sustained-contact base. The herbs are the same either way.
Revive™ is designed for topical application directly to the affected area. The formula works through the skin into the underlying muscle, joint, or soft tissue — with onset typically within one minute.
Pre-Treatment Application
Revive™ can be applied to the area to be worked before Tui-na, cupping, acupuncture, or any manual therapy. Onset is typically within one minute.
Apply, palpate the tissue, and begin treatment without waiting for the formula to settle. Many practitioners also apply Revive™ to their own hands and forearms before extended bodywork sessions.
Transition time is the period Revive™ takes to absorb into the skin after application.
Revive PRO Product Sheet by SJB Team
What follows is peer-reviewed research on the individual herbs that make up Revive™ — with focus on the trauma-medicine pair (Frankincense and Myrrh) and the formula’s central blood-mover (Chuan Xiong / Ligusticum). These studies are provided for practitioner reference.
The research supports what the clinic has been observing for twenty-seven years. Frankincense reduces joint inflammation. Myrrh quiets pain signaling. Chuan Xiong moves blood through the smallest vessels. The classical Mo Yao + Ru Xiang pair is more powerful than either alone. The formula is doing exactly what each herb, individually and in combination, has been documented to do — and the practitioner can put it on the area, palpate, and begin work in under a minute.
